It’s been a very good cycling week. The cool morning temperatures have ceded to the relentless onslaught of the Florida sun and heat. My riding jacket has been replaced by a layer of sunscreen, which is apparently lacking in SPF value as that inevitable and ever so funky cyclist tan is becoming more prominent.
Road construction in the area has made me switch from my standard 25 mile route on paths to a 30 mile open road route. It’s a welcomed switch as road riding is much more fun and efficient. Number wise, I’ve squeezed in 112 miles in three days, bringing my total mileage to 736 miles. That’s 180.85 donuts burned for those still keeping track.
It was an uneventful week, which is actually a good thing. Motorists have been particularly well behaved, and I was able to hold the wind, my invisible nemesis, in check. I did some discovery riding while on Dr. Dave’s challenge, and put in some enjoyable formation riding with some Germanic riders. Apart from some cougar sightings, the week has been great.
So it’s time for a weekend off to play in the sun with my family, and buy some stronger sunscreen! Happy weekend to all.
