It’s hard enough acclimating to our sudden summer-like temperatures and humidity, but good old Mother Nature was up to her old shenanigans, and had a few tricks up her sleeve to make today’s ride more “memorable”. Not only did the temperature rise 10 degrees during the ride, but for some freakish reason, the wind went from a calm 7mph breeze to a 20+ mph head on thigh burner, only to drop down to a gentle breeze on my return. And, as if either of those two elemental tricks from Mother Nature weren’t enough, she decided to get the dreaded love bugs up early and swarm the roadways with their sex-crazed flights of fancy.
Needless to say, the wind whipped, guided missle-like, oncoming love bugs made me feel as if I was on the loosing end of a dodgeball game. I again cut the ride a little shorter than normal, and returned home to find more than a few love bugs hitching a ride on me (I actually had a pair in of all places, my shoe), but at least I didn’t swallow any of those nasty bugs.
