It’s exciting to see Volkswagen of America team up with Bikes Belong, the nation’s leading advocacy organization for bicycling, on a two-year partnership to help develop biking-friendly communities, foster healthy lifestyles and create a cleaner environment.
You’d think that an automaker and a pro bicycling coalition would be diametrically opposed as they compete for our ever congested roadways, but as Jonathan Browning, president and CEO, Volkswagen Group of America says, “We are extremely proud to be partnering with Bikes Belong to encourage biking and ensure that people of all ages can safely share the road, saving fuel and reducing pollution and traffic congestion.”
What? Share the road? Save Fuel? Reduce pollution and traffic congestion? The partnership, part of VW’s Think Blue initiative, encompasses all of the company’s efforts to promote eco-friendly mobility and encourage environmentally conscious lifestyle. It’s no wonder VW has quickly ascended to the the top of the automobile world. Looks like the rest of the auto world has a thing or two to learn.
When people ride bikes, great things happen. You can make bicycling better. All it takes is your name. Sign the pledge today.
…oh and by the way, for full disclosure sake, yes I do drive a VW. Das Auto über alles!
