Isaac is doing his best to muck things up down here, so it was time to put rules #5 and #9 of the Velominati Rules to the test. For those unfamiliar with these sacred cycling rules, rule number 9 mentions
- If you are out riding in bad weather, it means you are a badass. Period. Fair-weather riding is a luxury reserved for Sunday afternoons and wide boulevards. Those who ride in foul weather – be it cold, wet, or inordinately hot – are members of a special club of riders who, on the morning of a big ride, pull back the curtain to check the weather and, upon seeing rain falling from the skies, allow a wry smile to spread across their face. This is a rider who loves the work.
While rule number 5 quite elegantly states
- Harden The Fuck Up.
What better way to test both these rules than on a big old mess of high gusty winds and driving rain called Tropical Storm Isaac. Crazy you say? Honestly, yes….crazy fun! It’s not often one gets the opportunity to go mano-a-mano….ok pedal-a-gust against one of Mother Natures more menacing creations. Watch as the Duchess and el Taco Ardiente join me on a 40 mile beat down of Isaac!
