Florida Backroads

We switched it up a bit last Sunday and Monday and headed inland for some spectacular Florida backroad cycling around Lehigh Acres and the Caloosahatchee Watershed. Sunday’s ride was meandering, river hopping 75 mile tour around Lehigh Acres with the guys, while Monday’s ride was a scenic 45 mile country route with the gals. Panoramic green vistas of ranches, palmetto and pine scrub land, old growth forests and tree lined river banks highlighted the virtually traffic free routes.

With the exception of a few rambunctious dogs which were eager to give chase, both rides were picturesque and pleasurable, even in the presence of a stubborn headwind. We wrapped it all up with a trip to Bennett’s Fresh Roast for some rather “engaging” conversation, over pumpkin donuts and coffee…good thing we were the only ones out on the patio.
