The Italians have a special name for their passionate…perhaps crazed is a better term, cycling fans: The Tifosi.
Rodrigo Mattiuz, is the perfect example. Armed with a GoPro camera mounted on a pole, he and thousands of others slogged their way up the Monte Zoncolan, by bike and foot to cheer on their favorite pro riders. The trip up was brutal as no motorized transport was allowed up the narrow and incredibly steep roads. In fact, even the pro teams were not allowed to use their support cars, having instead to use a single motorbike with a mechanic riding shotgun. But it was well worth it, as the sights and sounds were priceless.
